Collections, Stories and Archives sought for NATUR
NATUR: North Atlantic Tales is a new platform enabling artists and archives to work together researching and create new works around the human stories connecting archives, memories and collections that link the people of Denmark, Iceland, Norway and the UK.
We’ll be recruiting artists in June/July but first want to map the heritage resources (across museums, libraries, archives, and personal collections/recollections) in each city and region to start joining the dots across the water to uncover the untold tales that connect our cities and people.
Our starting point is seven themes: folklore and language, merchants, fisheries, industrialisation, conflict, oil and women’s history. Using the archives and stories of each country to inspire new artwork the end result will be will become a platform for engaging with collective North Atlantic histories through artistic eyes- shaping future common identities.
Your work could be the official history of a nation or a very personal exploration of your own heritage. From institutional archives, research projects to family collections we want to hear from you to tell the rich story of our shared cultural heritage.
