Dance of the Honey Bee

Manchester City Centre
August 2013

Exploring the natural balance between humans and our effect on nature, the installation was an exciting two part project created for Manchester's Urban Gardening Festival, Dig the City.

Dance of the Honey Bee by American artist Jason Hackenwerth was ambitious and huge in scale: three stunning sculptures that launched the festival with three more created as the festival took place. The overarching aim was to create work that a wide range of audience could engage with and deliver a project that would make the festival stand out in the crowded cultural landscape of Manchester.

Creative Delivery and Impact

Curated Place was commissioned to deliver public realm work with a ‘wow factor’ for Manchester’s first urban gardening festival - Dig the City. The festival spanned Manchester’s busy retail district, with nine days of cultural creative and family events taking place throughout the area, and was the first event to be delivered by the Heart of Manchester BID.
